Thank you for visiting The Purple Paw. We have a wide variety of treats, pictures of our happy customers, various ways to contact us and our words for the day or as we call it Daily Paws. Many of our treats can be customized for a particular holiday, a sensitive stomach, a picky palate or to address allergy concerns. Daily Paws is The Purple Paw blog spot and the daily on goings with Buoy and the crew.
Who is Buoy (boo-ee)? Buoy is a 5 year old Portuguese Water Dog (PWD), resident taste tester, three ring one dog circus and our inspiration in continuing our fun hobby of treat making. Buoy is the handsome guy that is perched atop this page. Oddly enough all of our inspiration has come from PWD's.

Our Story
The Purple Paw wasn't always The Purple Paw. We got our start in 2002 making treats for a PWD named Arrow. We experimented with various dog cookie recipes and Arrow didn't mind eating the mistakes, so it was a win win. After mastering some basics, we got some recipes of our own and moved on to making dog treats as holiday gifts for friends and family with dogs. When the treats were gobbled up at their respective homes, I was inundated with feedback, "Oh Spot loved those" or "my Bailey doesn't like anything and she gobbled that up". So it began; no one wanted a store bought gift anymore. Then finally it happened, "You should sell these" was uttered, a name was given, craft show sales all over the state and the rest is history in the making.
Over the course of the last 7 years, we have further honed our skills and continue to strive for improvement. We do not and will not use "atomic shelf life" preservatives in our treats. Our hands on approach to making our treats will always be our standard. We take pride in knowing that our ingredients can be found in most kitchens.
